Female entrepreneurship is gaining rapid as women seek out a better work life balance. Working remotely from a laptop, setting a schedule that fits your life and content that you believe in… Sounds enticing right? While this might sound too good to be true, the truth is anyone can do it when you know some simple truths. Whenever I have a big goal, the first thing I want to know is how did others get there. And here’s what I’ve learned. The top female entrepreneurs out there all have an incredible mindset around business and what’s achievable. What’s more, they’re willing to share that information!
While some women come into entrepreneurship from a hobby or side hustle, I am approaching it from a very intentional perspective. I’m growing a business that I believe will be of service to others as well as supporting myself. Now I know you’re probably thinking – doesn’t everyone want that? The truth is, I don’t think they do. Its not for everyone. There is a lot to be said for a steady and reliable paycheck as well as paid vacation days. But if like me, you’re a self-motivated individual with a passion for living on your own terms, then I think you should consider entrepreneurship. For me the pros just outweigh the cons:
- Work hours that suit me
- Engage my creative brain
- Stop trading time for money
- Put content into the world that I believe can have an impact
- Opportunity to build and scale something far more valuable than that paycheck
- Convince my husband we can finally get a puppy as I’ll be home all the time
- No more office politics
- Stop working for shitty bosses
- And of course, being able to live my most optimistic life
Learn the Secrets of Successful Female Entrepreneurs
When embarking on any new journey I look to the people who have achieved in this area for inspiration. One of the things that I love most about the online female entrepreneur space is that there are so many examples of amazing women succeeding here. And these women know that there is enough room for everyone at the table for everyone. This is not the corporate ladder where I have too often experienced backlash from other women who deem you as competition for the next promotion, or a threat to their job security.
Entrepreneurial women are confident in their own success and willing to share their knowledge and expertise to help other women chase their own dreams. That’s not to say it’s all free and nor should we expect it to be. These business women have worked exceptionally hard to achieve their goals and that knowledge should be valued appropriately.
There is fantastic content available in many forms if you’re willing to seek it out. I will share with your some of the very best resources that I have come across, both paid and free. Of course what resonates best with you may depend on your niche, but many of these resources are focused on building your business skills and mindset. After all, mindset is everything!

The Best Podcasts for Women in Business
I love to listen to podcasts about business, especially from female entrepreneurs who have earned success in their businesses. And the bonus when you find a good one is that you can binge all of the past episode while you’re walking the dog or out in the garden – way healthier than a Netflix binge though I am definitely not saying you should give those up! Here are my current top rotations for women in business podcasts.
The Goal Digger- Jenna Kutcher
Jenna Kutcher is a wildly successful entrepreneur and in this podcast she imparts the wisdom from her journey. This is a fun listen but packed with actionable steps for your business. Kutcher goes straight to all of those mindset issues around whether you can really turn you passions into profit. Her guest list is always fabulous. I listen to this when I’m on my morning walk before I sit down at my laptop and it always leaves me feeling inspired!
Crickets to Cha-Chings – Lauren Keplinger
This one is for any female entrepreneurs looking to open their online handmade product store. While the focus is on Etsy shops there is solid business advice for any sales space. It may still be one of the lesser known podcasts, but Lauren is straight to the point and gives real world advice. She gets to the heart of a problem that a listener might be having with the business and breaks it down step-by-step to find the root cause. Her advice is a goldmine for anyone just starting out!
Online Marketing Made Easy- Amy Porterfield
There’s a reason she’s running a multi-million dollar business and it’s because she knows what’s up in the online entrepreneurial world. Amy Porterfield gives very actionable steps for improving your online business, whether you’re a newbie or you’ve got a steady following. I love how she takes a seemingly complex topic and breaks it down into very simple to follow steps. Definitely add this to your list if you’ve ever dreamed of starting an online business!
Don’t Keep You Day Job – The Cathy Heller Show
Cathy Heller is your all-round life coach, spiritual mentor and business guru rolled into one. She really breaks down mindset issues and gets you to understand what value you can bring to the world, always removing the ego. The Best Online Spaces and Coaching Options for Female Entrepreneurs
The obvious next step when you’re reached a point where you just need someone to talk to and help you figure out the next step in your business is to find a coach or a community. If you’re someone that needs some in-depth guidance, then one-on-one coaching might be your best choice. However, there are some amazing communities full of fellow entrepreneurs who are so willing to answer your questions on a thread or give advice on a creative project.
The Female Entrepreneur Association– Carrie Green
The members club for the Female Entrepreneur Association is hands down one the greatest communities I have come cross. Carrie is so relatable and really makes you feel like you;re having a chat with a friend over a cup of tea. Here you will find community forums, options for accountability partners, guided visualizations and masterclasses with some of the very best. The masterclasses are a huge draw card and cover everything from marketing and how to set up a filing system to how to get out of your own way for success. I am always hesitant to spend money on any type of subscription, but the value I have received from this has far surpassed what I have paid. Also check out the podcast for an introduction to Carrie’s amazing vibe and energy.
The Magic Is You – Michelle & Aimee / Secret Owl Society
I love Michelle because she is so real and she just exudes happiness and joy. The thing that makes this different is that Michelle & Aimee turn a lot of the internet business advice you might hear on its head – especially when it comes to “rules” you should follow. They are all about being the fullest expression of your true self and I couldn’t be more inspired. This is less about actual business advice and more about how to tap into and harness your most creative and authentic self and act from your zone of genius. If you can master that, then the business success will naturally follow. For a taste of what you can expect, also check out the Magic is You podcast.
